I am soooo happy– finally a hat to fit my Sweetie. I have started on this massive ‘knitting initiative’. I have never really knit things for the holidays, but the Indie Design Gift-Along 2014 gave me a reason to start. I like the Gift-Along because it seems like a gift that keeps on giving. I enjoy knitting and I will admit that my heart feels joy whenever I receive compliments on my knitting. It has been five years since I first started and I can say that each year has gotten better. I have met so many cool knitters and learn so many different things. I will admit that cables still scare me and socks are on my to-do list. I can brag showing my first finished hat, Dreiecke by Shannon Cook. I used Malabrigo yarn– my favorite. I am planning on making another one.
In my Part 1 blogpost about the Gift-Along, I shared several pictures of potential knit projects. My cousin has an upcoming birthday party in two weeks so I am happy to announce that I found a perfect cowl for her as well as a nice beginner’s cable cowl project. Here are my other KAL projects:
I am so happy that Ravelry exist. While looking at patterns for my family and friends, I stumbled upon a knitting blog called Dull Roar. Knit designer Alex Tinsley surprised me with her fabulous knit patterns. Also I would have never knew about the Gift-A-Long. As a knitter I try to do my diligence and share cool stuff to my knitting buddies. The details about the Gift-A-Long are listed by clicking on the Gift-A-Long icon below. The highlights about this cool Gift-A-Long is that over 300 designers have offered a small percentage off on specific patterns and in turn as you knit these knitted goodies you share your FO so that everyone can *drool* see the end produce.
The Ravelry Gift-Along begins Thursday, November 13th at 8 pm (US-EST) and runs through Wednesday December 31st at midnight (US-EST). If you use the coupon code giftalong2014 between Thursday November 13th 8pm (US-EST) and Friday November 21 at 11:59 pm (US-EST), you’ll receive 25% off any of the patterns in this bundle!!
If you click the icon above you will connect to the Gift-A-Long Forum and see more information about patterns, types of knit goods, descriptions of prizes. I love the fact that Ravelry becomes the gift that keeps on giving. I enjoy knitting and most times my knit items end up with a friend.
I have been struggling for several weeks. Struggling to figure out what my next knit project will be. Don’t laugh (or at least not in my face) but I really feel a little anxious when I don’t have a challenging project on my needles. I am working diligently with my long term Kate Davies Funchal Moebius project. It’s a cool project to have on the train, but it’s growing like crazy.
For several weeks I have been eyeballing Kate Davies new Yoke book. I haven’t been able to think of anything else. Okay >>>>smiles<<<< I’m kidding again. Can I just say that I am in love. I love color work, it’s my life. So I will be charting new territory because I have never made a cardigan before. Those colors in Foxglove and Buchanan have just made my day.
